MAHWAH Established in 1944. Known as Bergen County’s Parkland, Mahwah has more open space than any other municipality in the county. The town covers more than 26 square miles along the Ramapo Mountains and Ramapo River and has nearly 5,000 acres of state and county parkland. Mahwah boasts a mixture of historic homes, Cape Cods, townhouses, condominiums and million dollar mansions. Mahwah also has great food, with the famous burger place "Boom Burger" voted best burgers in Bergen County. Famous landmarks include Darlington County Park, a well-known destination for Bergen County High School cross country practices and meets, Ramapo College of New Jersey, Campgaw Mountain Reservation, a well known area for skiing, Sheraton Mahwah Hotel and Ramapo Reservation, known for beautiful hiking trails and picnic areas.
