Established in 1892, Ridgefield was known as the commuter town with easy access to the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 46, there was a quiet colony established in 1913 by Man Ray, Alfred Kraymborg and Samuel Halpert, as an “artist colony”. To this day, certain street names – Sketch Place, Studio Road and Art Lane – still exist and reflect the homage to the colony’s history. Well-known landmarks include Overpeck Park, Veterans Park and for art Gallary 1&9.
